Legacy gift ideas

Name the Idaho Freedom Foundation in your will

Among your options, you may:

  • Include a gift to the Idaho Freedom Foundation in your will or trust. You can choose to support IFF in general, or direct your bequest to a particular purpose. Should you want to do this, please talk to us beforehand to ensure we can use your gift as intended.
  • Direct a percentage of your estate to the Idaho Freedom Foundation.
  • Leave IFF an amount (or percentage) of the remainder of your estate, after other bequests have been dispensed.

Benefits:

  • Your assets remain untouched during your lifetime.
  • Your will is easy to modify if personal circumstances change.
  • Per current law (as of April 2019), estate tax deductions for charitable bequests have no upper limits.
  • Please let IFF know about your bequest, so we can acknowledge your generous gift.

Give IFF a gift from your retirement account

Among your options, you may:

  • Name the Idaho Freedom Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan.
  • Contact your plan administrator to direct the remainder of your retirement savings to IFF.
  • Please inform IFF about your bequest—your plan administrator isn’t required to tell us, so we may not know about your gift.
  • If you are 70½ or older, you may make a tax-free gift directly to IFF through your IRA. To learn more, please contact IFF or click here.

Benefits:

  • You can continue making regular withdrawals from your retirement account.
  • You reserve the flexibility to change beneficiaries if circumstances change.
  • You reduce the tax burden on your estate, so more of your money goes where you intend, rather than to the government.

Establish a Charitable Remainder Trust

Overview:

  • You donate assets into a trust, which pays you a steady stream of income for a designated amount of time.
  • After the designated period of time, the balance remaining is donated to a non-profit of your choice.
  • Please talk with your financial advisor to see if this is the right path for you.
  • Please contact IFF or click here for a more detailed explanation.

Benefits:

  • You gain significant tax benefits, thus more of your estate goes to work how you prefer, rather than going to the government.
  • Establishing a charitable remainder trust makes you eligible for significant tax deductions immediately.
  • You gain a steady stream of income.

Revocable Trust

Overview:

  • You donate assets into a trust, which in turn pays a steady stream of income to you for the rest of your life.
  • Upon your death, the remaining balance is donated to a non-profit of your choice.
  • You retain complete control over the assets held in your trust.
  • Please talk with your financial advisor to see if this is the right path for you.

Benefits:

  • You gain significant and immediate tax benefits, meaning more of your estate goes to work how you prefer, rather than going to the government.
  • You gain a steady stream of income.
  • Because you can name multiple beneficiaries, your estate avoids government probate.
